Girdwood White Spruce Burl - 18" x 24"
Girdwood White Spruce Burl - 18" x 24"
This unique Girdwood Alaska White Spruce Tree Ring Print is made from a burl, which gives it its distinct and intricate pattern. A tree burl is a growth on a tree that forms when the tree experiences some sort of stress, such as disease, insect infestation, or physical trauma. As the tree tries to heal itself, it forms a burl, which is a dense cluster of wood grain that creates a swirling, almost psychedelic pattern.
Each Girdwood Alaska White Spruce Tree Ring Print is an original, not a re-print, and is made using traditional woodblock printmaking techniques. Printed on thick, archival grade paper with textured ink, this print measures 18x24 inches, making it the perfect size to fit a standard 18x24 frame.
Please note that this does not ship with a frame - it is shipped unframed, rolled up safely in a tube. This is to ensure the print arrives to you in perfect condition, as frames can sometimes get damaged in transit.
I carefully select only pre-fallen trees, and remove a small slice of the wood, leaving the rest behind to decompose naturally.
